Perhaps we should think about decentralization as a tactic. As the occupation goes on perhaps we can use #LibertyPlaza as a meeting place for the general assemblies, but if we have enough people we can leave a hundred or so there and begin to occupy other places around the city. Most of the banks are in midtown, and also as we are not visible in brooklyn, the LES, or queens we are losing our chance to begin involving the working class of NYC.
This would: a) increase exposure, b) allow people working in different places around the city to participate (during lunch breaks for example), c) make the movement more difficult to stop, d) allow more space for different kinds of activities, e) give us some places to march to, d) allow us to use significant landmarks around the city to increase the meaning associated with the movement.

The numbers are too few to decentralise. If you spread people out, the protests will seem less significant. Once liberty plaza becomes saturated with people, then you can take half those people and spread them out to 'settle' elsewhere. If you expand to early, all the groups will seem small and insignificant and will die. We need more people before expanding. Just another point to make. Ordinary people that see this are thinking right now: "oh there are a bunch of people protesting. They've been there for a few days but they'll be gone soon." If the protests can remain strong for at least one week, regular people will begin to take notice. They will consider joining. If you survive past a week, you will see a sharp increase in numbers. This is why it is important to network and make your presence known, the news won't do that for you. Good luck guys. peace
